Jimmy Odukoya, the first son of the late Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, has been declared as the new General Overseer of the Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, Lagos.
Pastor also assumed the office of the Chairman of the Board of Trustee of the Church as announced by a member of the Trustee, on Sunday.
The late Odukoya, died on August 7 in the United States, and buried this month.
His first son will take over as the senior pastor officially from September 30.
“Pastor Jimmy is now our senior pastor and he is the chairman of the Board of Trustees,” the board member told to the cheering congregation.
Jimmy, who is a Nollywood actor, got his education at the Oral Roberts University, United States.
His sister, Tolu Tolu Odukoya Ijogun is the new associate Pastor of the Church.
Okpaise revealed that prior to his passing, Taiwo Odukoya had shared his succession plan with the board of trustees (BoT) members.
In light of this, the BoT collectively elected Jimmy to serve as the senior pastor and also appointed him as the chairperson of the board.
Known for his role in the 2022 movie The Woman King, Jimmy is the first child of late pastors Bimbo Odukoya and Taiwo Odukoya.
Pastor Taiwo Odukoya died less than two years after his 47-year-old South African wife, Nomthi Odukoya, died. She died in November 2021 after a two-year battle with cancer.
They were married for 11 years and had two children.
He married Nomthi after his first wife, Bimbo, died in the ill-fated Sosoliso plane crash in 2005.
His union with Bimbo produced three children, including Jimmy — the star of Netflix’s Woman King movie.In December 2021, the pastor also lost his twin sister, Kehinde Hassan, to cancer.
